FAQs

(Frequently Asked Questions)

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO RACE?

Racers must be 10 years of age and 56” tall.

HOW LONG IS EACH RACE?

Novice and Pro are approximately 10 laps or 8 – 10 minutes

Rookie is 6 minutes in length.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN ROOKIE VS NOVICE VS PRO?

Many karting tracks offer only two types of races – kids and adults. At iRACE, we provide a fun-filled and SAFE racing environment by providing three (3) distinct types of races tailored to match the driver’s ability.

WHAT IS ROOKIE RACING?

This Rookie Race is just the ticket for our youngest drivers to get the feel of the track. With a maximum speed of 17 mph, the Rookie Race is perfect for young drivers who are 10-13 years of age and at least 56” tall.

WHAT IS NOVICE RACING?

The Novice Race is geared toward those just getting started in racing. Novice racers reach 27 mph in less than 5.0 seconds and are sure to feel the g-forces as they twist through the turns and blast down the two-level ramp all less than one inch off the ground. The minimum age for Novice drivers is 13 years of age and they must be 56” tall.

WHAT IS PRO RACING?

The Pro Race is held in the same karts but at maximum speed reaching 40 mph in less than 4.0 seconds. Racers are much more aggressive and run the fastest lines around the ¼ mile track. The Pro Race is not for the faint of heart but once you’ve mastered the Novice race, you’ll be a natural for Pro. Pro Racers must have a valid drivers license or permit, be 56” tall and qualify by turning a less than 30.00 second lap time in a Novice Race.

WHY CAN’T I JUST RACE PRO TO START WITH?

On Pro Speed, you must have a quicker reaction time, be able to precisely judge when to brake and when to accelerate and not strike the barriers or other drivers. If you purchase multiple races and qualify for Pro, we will automatically move you from Novice to Pro on your next race, at no additional charge.

IS THERE A WAIT TIME BEFORE I RACE?

In most cases, yes. During the week and on slower days the wait can be anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. On the weekends, holidays and other peak times, the wait is typically between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Please ask about wait times prior to purchasing races if you have time restraints. The good news is that iRACE has so many attractions, the time will fly by while you enjoy the arcades, Hologate or grab something to eat in the iRACE restaurant/bar.
